Värmland County Council

The main responsibility of the Värmland County Council is to provide medical and dental care services for the inhabitants and visitiors of Värmland county.

Värmland County Council works with healthcare, nursing and dental care, and is the county's biggest employer and knowledge organisation, with some 7 000 staff. The county council has around 30 health centres and hospitals in Karlstad, Arvika and Torsby.

The dental care services have 40 clinics across the county. There's also a county council archive.
The county council is also responsible, together with the municipalities, for public transport in the county. The county council also owns Region Värmland together with the municipalities.

Politicians govern the organisation

The county council is a politically controlled organisation. Elections are held every four years, when citizens in the county choose which political parties and politicians are to govern the county council for the following four years.
