Foods

The government wants Sweden to be Europe's new centre of cuisine. Värmland is already on its way towards turning this vision into reality. We have the potential, we have the will, we have innovative people – food producers both large and small.

A number of non-profit organisations are working intensively together with trade and industry in order to develop "Värmland, County of Food" and make its name known.

Kil Innovation Food Arena

Kil Innovation Food Arena, KIFA, is Värmland's deliberate attempt to take up a position and be renowned as "Värmland, County of Food". Intensive project work is in progress prior to the formation of an active cluster organisation for companies in the industry.

KIFA is working:

  • to underpin the Värmland food profile
  • to create a centre for skills and development
  • to become a place where companies and entrepreneurs can meet up

The ambition is to make Värmland into the Swedish leader when it comes to the development of rural companies in the sector involving locally produced, high quality foods with developed added value.

KIFA wants to help promote foods refinements so as to increase profits for producers. New companies will be formed, and existing companies will undergo strong growth. The number of ecological products will increase. Cooperation on smart and sustainable logistical solutions is also important.

The pantry for entrepreneurs

More companies and entrepreneurs are required in the field of small-scale food production in Värmland. There's a constant increase in the demand for products which is far in excess of the range of products on offer. This is why Hushållningssällskapet is running the Skafferiet - The Pantry - project. Skafferiet is aimed at anyone who has started or who wants to start a company focusing on small-scale food refinement or experience tourism combined with food.

The aim is to bring additional viable food companies to Värmland.

  • Information: Collect and pass on information in order to help companies to utilise all resources as effectively as possible.
A newsletter is sent regularly to interested parties.
  • Training: Custom activities, courses, study visits and other skills development.
  • Sounding board for corporate development: Provide support to established and newly formed companies, providing - among other things - development of corporate concepts, network building and applications relating to development projects, investments and skills development.
  • Initiate and formulate new projects together with other players.
  • Networks for companies, mainly in the fields of small-scale food production and food tourism.

Lots of Värmland food with Värmlandsmat

Värmlandsmat (Värmland Food) is a non-profit association which promotes cooperation and development of small-scale food production in Värmland. Its members work together on joint marketing, sales and logistics, among other things.

Värmland food comes from lots of farms, forests, lakes and rivers. Some of them have their own farm shops (all year round, or for part of the year), while others work with their colleagues in the association or in food shops.
