Industry profile

Once upon a time, we had natural assets which created Värmland's prosperity. Over time, the availability of iron ore made this region one of the best in the world when it came to manufacturing tool steel. With the forest as a resource, unique knowledge linked with the paper and pulp industry has been developed here, and this is now used to create the packaging solutions of the future.

Traditional industry is maintaining a significant position in the region, and other industries have also been able to grow strongly around it.

In Värmland, the public sector, academies and trade and industry all work together to create development and growth. This way of working has come to be known as the Värmland model and focuses on business development, research, entrepreneurship and skills supply. This model has aroused a lot of attention and curiosity both in Sweden and elsewhere.

Cooperation produces results

Working together is fun and inspiring. The evaluation carried out by Region Värmland every year also shows that cooperation pays off, too. The Värmland model is helping to create more jobs, new products and increased sales.

Quite simply, Värmland is a place where it pays to invest!
