Energy and the environment

Värmland climate neutral in 2030

Region Värmland and the County Administrative Board of Värmland, along with both private companies and public organizations have agreed to set up a regional climate goal. This means that the county's climate impact should be minimized, particularly by becoming independent of fossil fuels.

Energikontor Värmland

Energikontor Värmland is the county's knowledge centre for energy and environmental issues and assists companies and organisations with facts, data and advice when it comes to making decisions on energy efficiency or switching to renewable sources.

It also helps to improve knowledge of which players are available on the energy market, information on European or national project funding which can help to finance various environmental investments.

Environmental diploma for small companies

The environmental diploma is an environmental management system for small and medium-sized enterprises and companies in Värmland, making it easier for them to take control of their environmental work.
This environmental management system is a tool for organising and maintaining control of work on reducing companies' environmental impact and reinforcing business-driven environmental development within companies.

There are currently several municipalities in Värmland which work with the environmental diploma – Hammarö, Eda, Forshaga, Hagfors, Grums, Munkfors Arvika, Karlstad, Kil, Säffle and Sunne.

Promote energy efficiency!

It's possible to apply for funding for energy efficiency work for companies from both the Swedish Energy Agency and the County Administrative Board. Companies can also contact the municipality's energy and climate advisor for advice on energy use, heating and transport.

County Administrative Board consultancy cheques

Small and medium-sized enterprises can acquire funding in the form of what are known as consultancy cheques for investments to make your company more energy efficient, but also for carrying out ISO certification, developing export initiatives or otherwise improving the efficiency of your company. Consultancy cheques can be used to cover up to half the cost of the investment in question and have a ceiling of SEK 150 000.

Swedish Energy Agency funding for energy charting

Special funding can be applied for from the Swedish Energy Agency for companies using more than 500 MWh per year. This funding can also be used for agriculture with more than 100 animal units, even if the farms in question use less than 500 MWh per year. This funding is used to chart the company's overall energy consumption and to identify the most important initiatives to make their consumption more efficient. This funding can be applied for until 2014 and can cover half the cost of charting, with a ceiling of SEK 30 000.

FEM project

Renewable energy, energy efficiency and the environment, abbreviated to FEM in Swedish, is a partnership project within Interreg Sverige-Norge, a Swedish-Norwegian initiative in which Energikontor Värmland is participating.  In Värmland the project is run by Arvika Municipality from fall of 2011. This project will help to develop expertise in the region and to enhance research in respect of renewable energy and energy efficiency. It also aims to encourage new companies and services in the field.

BiodriV

The three-year project BiodriV, biofuels development in Värmland, is an effort to create conditions for increased production and use of biofuels in the region. BiodriV is an EU-project with support from the Regional Development Fund and is run by Region Värmland between 2011-2013.

This means that the county's climate impact should be minimized, particularly by becoming independent of fossil fuels.
