Care and nursing

Värmland County Council is responsible for healthcare and nursing. There are around 30 health centres here, and emergency hospitals in Karlstad, Arvika and Torsby. Dental care is run by the county council (the Dental Public Service) and private players.

Other important elements in our security system are care for the elderly and care for people with physical or mental disabilities. The municipalities bear overall responsibility for these. The municipalities also offer childcare, with preschool operations and registered childminders, as well as childcare for school-age children. Here, too, there are many private players who supplement the public operations on offer.
