Care for the elderly
Everyone should be able to live an active and meaningful life, have an influence and take part in society and enjoy life, even in their twilight years. Everyone must be able to play their part and age in security, maintaining their integrity, being treated with respect and dignity, and having access to good care and nursing.
The municipalities' initiatives for the elderly and people under 65 with less extensive disabilities normally include:
- help around the home (home help service)
- special accommodation
- daytime units.
Needs are assessed in accordance with the Social Services Act (socialtjänstlagen).
Support for relatives and respite care, security alarms, rehabilitation and repair services in the home are other assistance measures on offer. The terms and activities vary in certain regards from municipality to municipality.
