Preschool class
Preschool class is a voluntary form of school which aims to stimulate development and learning for every child, and also forms the basis for their ongoing school careers. The educational methods of preschool and primary school meet in preschool class. One important objective is for preschool class, primary school and recreation centres to be linked more closely. These operations aim to develop as various educational traditions meet.
- All children must be offered places in preschool class as of the autumn term of the year in which they have their sixth birthday, until the time they start primary school.
- Places in preschool class must be offered as close as possible to the child's home, and all reasonable attempts must be made to take into account the wishes of the parents. Special support must be given to children who need it.
- Children who are cared for in hospital or some other institution must be allowed to participate in some kind of arrangement equivalent to preschool class.
