Special primary/lower secondary school and training school
Mandatory special primary/lower secondary school includes two parallel school forms, primary/lower secondary school and training school. Students are entitled to a voluntary tenth year of education in order to expand or advance their knowledge.
Special upper secondary school
Special upper secondary school is a free and voluntary form of school which young people with developmental disorders can choose after completing special primary/lower secondary school and training school. Special upper secondary school offers national, specially formulated and individual programmes.
There are eight national programmes. There are also two individual programmes for students who can't or don't want to do a national programme. The various programmes focus mainly on preparing students for a vocation.
Special adult education
Special adult education is a form of school aimed at adults with intellectual disabilities who want to supplement their mandatory special school and/or special upper secondary school education.
