Newly arrived refugee
Have you recently received a residence permit as a refugee? Or have you recently moved to a relative in Sweden who has been granted residence permits as refugees for more than two years ago? You may be one of the people covered by the law on introduction activities for certain newly-arrived immigrants.
When you have been given your residence permit, you have to learn Swedish, find a job and support yourself as soon as possible. When you have obtained your residence permit, visit the Swedish Public Employment Service as soon as possible. They will help you enter the labour market and into the Swedish society.
Am I entitled to introduction activities?
If you are aged 20-64 (or aged 18-19 years and have no parents in Sweden) and have obtained a residence permit as a refugee or refugee-like reasons, you are entitled to special assistance during your first time in Sweden. This also applies to you who came to Sweden because you have a relative here who received a residence permit as a refugee or refugee-like reasons, provided you have applied for residence within two years after your relative was received in a municipality.
To find out if you qualify for introduction activities, contact the Swedish Public Employment Service.
What are introduction activities?
Introduction activities are activities that will support you to learn Swedish, find work and manage your own supply. Your introduction plan, determine what activities you will be working with during your first time in Sweden. The Swedish Public Employment Service, together with you, prepares the introduction plan. This will be done by one or more conversations with you.
By continuing via the links on the right and through the information contained on this site, we hope that you will receive support to find yourself comfortably in the Värmland society.
