Work in Värmland is available in the traditional basic industry, in small and medium-sized service companies and within municipalities and county councils. Iron ore gave us the steel and engineering industry. The forests were the point of origin of our trade in pulp and paper technology. Innovations and technical development have also made Värmland a hub for ICT companies.

There are also jobs available in a broad and growing hospitality industry. Tourism provides opportunities for organisations offering everything from accommodation and culinary experiences to activities and places to meet. More and more companies have also latched onto the Värmland tradition of culture and storytelling.

In Värmland, the public sector, academies and trade and industry all work together to create development and growth. This way of working has come to be known as the Värmland model and focuses on business development, research, entrepreneurship and skills supply. This model has aroused a lot of attention and curiosity both in Sweden and elsewhere.
