Uno – Ungdomens Hus in Karlstad

Uno is a cultural centre in central Karlstad for young people over 16. The centre offers a lively mix of music, design, dance, games, plays, a café and lots of events.

The Uno concept

The idea behind Uno is that young people who enjoy dancing, music, design and other creative activities can indulge in their interests here. Uno offers activities every day, such as a cinema, dance hall, rehearsal rooms, café, design and exhibitions, and there are also lots of things to attend such as shows, meetings, concerts and workshops.

Uno has enormous capacity for taking on board project ideas and coaching young people to help them turn their dream projects into reality. Uno has technology, space and knowledge – and money to finance it all as well!

The basic concept for the initiative was developed by the Youth Council, and the young people elected continue to have a lot of say in how the centre is developed. Uno is part of the Culture and Leisure Administration in the municipality of Karlstad. A number of culture coordinators work at the centre and coach young people to turn their dream projects into reality.
