Relocation and start-up guide

Welcome to Värmland!

We want to give you correct and valuable information on what living here is like. If you're thinking of moving to Värmland, we hope to be able to get you off to as great a start as possible.

Get in touch with our coordinators!

We can help you with:

  • Information on industries and job opportunities.
  • Tips on finding somewhere to live, schools, preschools and leisure interests.
  • Getting in touch with authorities.

Quite simply, we want to give you guidance, helping you to find everything you need and allowing you to feel right at home here in Värmland.

Strong industries and entrepreneurship

Moreover, if you have a business concept that you want to bring to life within a company of your own, we also have an EU coordinator and company setup support agent for the region.

In Värmland, our paper and pulp industry is a huge success. We're also involved in developing the packaging solutions of the future. We also have large-scale manufacture of tool steel. There are entrepreneurs here who promote belief in the future in the form of companies that have won environmental awards in the hospitality industry, coffee producers that take both social and environmental responsibility, IT companies that enhance the region's competitiveness on a global market, and play equipment manufacturers that are boycotting chemicals.

We have creative force here, and an enormous willingness to work together in order to reach still further. The Värmland clusters are successful examples of the fact that most things can actually be improved if you just work together with others.

Valuable advice:

  • Focus on a concept that will make you stand out from the crowd and allow you to take up a position all of your own on the market.
  • Get yourself a knowledge of the industry and find out what permits and registrations you'll need.
  • Find out whether your field needs special training or a degree.
  • Learn Swedish, and practise it – both spoken and written Swedish.
