Commutes by plane
Every second Monday, Malin Törneland takes the first flight out of the airport. Five working days later, she returns on the last plane back on Friday. During the working week, she works on site with her clients in Europe, the USA or Asia. The week after, she stays at home and works from her office in central Karlstad.

"We want to live here in Värmland," says Malin. "We have superb quality of life here."
Of course, she's tried both working and living elsewhere. Stockholm for five years. London for seven years. When she lived in the UK, she spent relatively long periods working in New York and often commuted there on a weekly basis.
Since February 2004, Malin Törneland has been a management consultant working in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry. She started her company, Pharmore Consulting, when she lived in London. She manages long change projects with a view to streamlining and optimising the production of medications.
"Nowadays, I work the way I used to when I had London as my base. My clients can't see any difference, as long as I turn up at their offices at the designated time.
"I love my job, but I also want to strike as much of a life balance as possible. This is why I always prioritise coming home."
Her present client in Italy visited Karlstad once.
"She was absolutely fascinated by the opportunities we have here," explains Malin Törneland. The pharmaceutical industry – and, without a doubt, many other industries as well – often appreciates slightly remote places for conferences and seminars.
